Urban Lumber Company
Urban Lumber Company offers custom millwork at our Springfield retail store. From large planing orders to
small walk-in sanding jobs and everything in between. The rate for all millwork is $60 per hour with a $10
minimum for each machine. Please call ahead to make an appointment for large projects.

Widebelt Sanding: Our 36" wide sander makes quick work of flattening glued up panels, doors, and
tricky grain. From 36 grit to 120 grit we can clean up and smooth out most projects while you wait!

Surface Planing: The 1942 Neuman 24" planer is an oldie, but a goodie. It will quickly handle the
hardest wood up to 8" thick.

Resaw: We use carbide tipped bandsaw blades for a smooth cut and narrow kerf for up to an 18" tall
cut on our Laguna bandsaw.

Edge Jointing: Our old 12" jointer flattens out cupped and twisted boards before putting on a true
glue line edge.

Sawmill services
At Urban Lumber, we have the tools to process trees into finished lumber. These tools are available for hire
for $75 per hour. Please call ahead to schedule an appointment for us to look at your job.

Portable Sawmill: Our Woodmizer bandmill is fully hydraulic for log loading, clamping, and turning.
The thin kerf bandsaw blade is accurate and efficient. The mill will cut a 24" wide board up to 20'
long, although a big log can be trimmed down to fit. It is mounted on a trailer to be pulled on site
anywhere a standard pickup can go. We require a $45 setup fee to come to your site, with a 2 hour
cutting minimum. The mill is otherwise setup at our retail store and available for a $35 minimum if you
bring the wood to us.

Crane Truck: Our flatbed crane truck is ideal for picking up and hauling up to 10,000 lbs at a time.
We can haul up to 16' long logs but are able to use the short length to get in alleys, back yards, and
other tight spots. We charge a one hour minimum with one way driving time.

Kiln Drying: We use a dehumidifier style kiln that is slow and gentle on the wood. It mimics a hot
summer day to dry wood to between 6 to 9% moisture content in about 6-8 weeks for green wood. Air
dried wood is much easier and quicker to dry. The cost is $0.40 per board foot with a $50 minimum.
